One advantage of having canopies for a gazebo is the ability to buy a replacement gazebo canopy when it has come to the end of its lifespan. Even the best canopies will eventually succumb to the hazards of their existence-sun, rain, wind and even wildlife. Fortunately replacement canopies are plentiful and inexpensive, making the gazebo look as good as new in short order.

Getting the right size is a challenge, since there are so many different types of gazebos, and a correspondingly large variety of sizes for the canopies. Knowing which one best fits a given gazebo might be an issue. However, the gazebo owner has a few tools they can use to make the chore manageable.
Unfortunately, sun shade canopies are not a one-size-fits-all type of items. Picking the wrong size is going to result in a lot of inconvenience. A lot of time may be lost removing the old canopy and trying to install the new one and discovering it does not fit. Then another trip to the store to exchange for a different size, and hope the correct size is in stock. Meanwhile the gazebo is left unprotected from the elements. The simplest solution is to take thorough measurements of the old canopy, before removal if possible or after, so that every dimension is known. These measurements will help identify the closest size match among the new canopies available.
A serious consideration should be given to selecting a new canopy that is even more durable than the old one. Paying a little more is cost effective if it lasts longer and looks better longer. A good material to consider is nylon. Nylon will resist mildew and its colors do not fade readily. Nylon will endure all the assaults from the weather it must endure 24/7 much better than other fabrics. The canopy will look like new and provide satisfaction much longer.
The design is as important as the quality of the fabric, especially if the gazebo and garden have a theme, from English rose garden to desert. Canopies do have different styles that may clash with the ongoing landscaping, so size alone should not decide which new canopy to purchase. The canopy will be around for a long time and constantly seeing a clash with the rest of the yard’s theme will become more and more annoying.
Many new canopies are available in a variety of colors, and this is an opportunity to give a whole new look to the gazebo. The color should enhance the landscaping and preferably coordinate with lawn furniture, flowers and the home itself. The color should not take to much attention away from other important landscaping elements of the back yard, such as benches or decorative fencing, or a vibrant flower bed.
Once size, material, color and style are pretty much decided upon, price becomes the only issue. Fortunately, there is great competition from many makers. Prices vary according to quality, features, size and maker. Nevertheless, most owners, if they bargain hunt diligently, will find the perfect canopy for their gazebo at a great price they can afford no matter now tight the budget.
