Most people decide first that they want a central acuum system without knowing whether they want a system that uses central vacuum bags, or a bagless (canister) system of dirt disposal.  Many make the mistake of opting for the bagless sytem without considering the other option.  In this article we will look at some of the misconceptions that people have regarding central vacuum bags and canister systems.

1. They think that the bags are outdated.

Most people opt for a canister system as being more up to date with the times.  There is something to be said for not having to purchase and change central vacuum bags in the base unit every so often.  Manufacturers appear to favour the canister models and there are more of them on the market to choose from. But there are many happy customers that prefer the bagged system as being a cleaner way to dispose of the drt from the base unit when it has to be cleaned.

2. They reckon that the canister system is cleaner.

Actually, the opposite is true.  There is not much problem with emptying a canister of dirt in your trash, but if you are an allergy sufferer for instance, you would probably rather not have to the trouble of knocking dust out of a canister.  Having to simply take out a central vacuum bag from the base unit and dump it in the trash has its advantages.

3. They think that central vacuum bags are expensive.

Central vacuum bags can sell for around $18 dollars online for 5 bags.  You may think this is expensive, but when you consider that each of these bags holds possibly 8 gallons of dirt, then you can see that you will not have to empty your system too often.  Either the bagged or bagless system works fine and it really comes dow to a matter of choice.
