Beautiful Cordial Glasses for the Dinner Table

When it comes to choosing the perfect cordial glasses for your home, many people are a bit confused. The confusion usually stems from people not really knowing what a cordial is. Clear this up, here is a definition: a cordial is a sweet, fruity drink that may or may not contain alcohol. In some countries, it is a common carbonated beverage consumed cold throughout the day. In the United States and Europe however, cordials usually contain alcohol and are meant to be an after dinner drink.

Now that we know the definition of what cordials are, we can focus on choosing glasses that are best suited for them. One problem that many people face is that there are all kinds of shapes, sizes, and colors to choose from. The one thing that usually differentiates a cordial glass from other types of dinner glasses is the amount that it will hold. Unlike a wine glass, one man for cordial will usually only hold a few ounces. This is about as much as a shot, or maybe a little bit more depending on the class you choose. Keep in mind that some of them have stems, and others don’t. The majority do have some sort of stem on them, and the glass itself may be tall and slender or wide and stout.  Although definitely less common, stemless glasses are more stable and can be easily placed in bar refrigerators to chill before use.

The way the glasses are made makes a difference as well. Some of them are produced with the finest crystal, and this type is preferred by many people. It looks great to have a simple, clear crystal glass on the dinner table. Having said that, other people prefer a more unique and colorful. For this reason you can find cordial glasses that come in colors, and it is not uncommon for a set to have each glass made a different color. Many people find this is a great idea, because it eliminates the problem of people confusing who’s glasses is whose.
